Captain Bly's VCO #6

Yo! Nothing new here, VCO #6 is basically the same as vco number 1 through 5 (a Veronica 1 watt clone), just more refined. I needed a super quiet exciter to go with the Digilog stereo coder I bought this winter. It works great! This latest example of the home built vco series will be the last of the line, as we're moving on to a programable PLL exciter project for more advanced builders this fall.

Ay, there's the rub:
VCO located in "oven" with heating resistors mounted on top

This VCO runs 24/7 in a "oven" or chamber thats heated by running current through power resistors mounted on the VCO inner cover. Typically 300-400 ohms total resistance is used for 15 volts dc. A coax relay switches the VCO's output to either the amplifier stage, when transmitting or a 50 ohm dummy load, when idle. The frequency stabilty is easily maintained for weeks or months at a time !

"...my top shelf reference class VCO #6 is the final version of the Captain Bly VCO series..."

to sleep, perchance to dream:
Picture rear shows mux input access and coaxial relay

"...mechanical rigidness and maintaining a constant operating temperature are the secrets of this VCO's stability..."

For in that sleep of death,
Left to right: freq adjust, mux in, freq adjust course and rf out

what dreams may come ?
Left to right: oscillator, amplifier and lowpass filter
